I can't say I've ever been in a situation like that, but for fast-moving subjects I tend to rely on digital's high-framerate/low-cost. The lack of AF control doesn't bother me so much since the setup time for each shot usually allows me to determine what settings [inc. AF] are best. I have a feeling that the blimp will be a somewhat outdated piece of hardware in the next 10 years, considering the trends in digital photography. If you're into modding cameras, I'd recommend attempting to remove the shutter curtain in a pellicle-mirrored DSLR; this would allow for TTL viewing and non-audible operation ;)

How do you deal with a situation in which focusing and recomposing won't work, such as an actor running toward you in a zigzag pattern? I've been shooting stills for a few years now and I've been putting off buying a blimp mostly for the reason of lack of autofocus control. I've been looking into a way to mod a blimp to have a multi-selector that matches up to my D3.

I have used for strap a part of a Think Tank bag that I bought recently. you may be able to order that just as a spare part, it's like a small carrying strap for the Think Tank Retrospective 30-GR Large Shoulder Bag that goes inside from edge to edge, I guess if you would like to carry that bag as a suitcase or something you woul duse that strap, its thin, looks pro and feel very confortable, it has two buckles and its just the perfect lenght! About the Af ,it would be nice if the bottom button locks the Af even in servo (Canon) mode!
